At the age of 18, Hendrik Christiaan Schobbers started selling grains, fodder products and seeds to large farming businesses, millers and small co-operations in Limbourg and also in the German border region.

In 1949 he bought a warehouse and a silo in Echt and began trading in seeds and grains for sowing. The office was located on the private premises and in 1948 H.Ch. Schobbers NV was founded. In 1962, his son, L.J.A.M. Schobbers joined the company. In the meantime, the company had grown steadily. The market was now no longer confined to the agricultural sector but also included the bird feed and cattle feed industry and the consumption sector.

The focus was increasingly on the international market, both with the import and the export of seeds. In 1967, L.J.A.M. Schobbers took over the business from his father, and the company continued to grow.

In 1989, it was decided to expand the warehouses. A new storage shed was erected, and the storage capacity in Echt was increased to 3,000 m2. In 1992, the 3rd generation joined the company.
